About Midleton
Midleton traces its story at the site in County Cork to 1825, when the distillery was acquired by the Murphy family, later becoming part of the Cork Distilleries Company. A major turning point came in 1966, when Cork Distilleries Company merged with John Power & Son and John Jameson & Son to form Irish Distillers, and in 1975 the new Midleton Distillery opened beside the old site, bringing Irish whiskey production from Dublin to Cork.
Today, Midleton is home to many of the best-known names in Irish whiskey, including Jameson, Redbreast, Powers, the Spot Whiskeys and Midleton Very Rare. Its most famous house bottling remains Midleton Very Rare, first launched in 1984 and still released as an annual vintage, a tradition that has helped define the top end of Irish whiskey for decades.
