The distillery grows barley on its own 1,000-acre farm, with around 15% still malted on site using time-honoured floor methods. Spirit is distilled in eleven copper stills, carefully maintained by the resident coppersmith, giving The Balvenie its signature rich, honeyed character. With an annual capacity of around 5.6 million litres, it is a sizeable operation, but one that continues to emphasise craftsmanship at every stage.
