Jameson’s identity has long been built around triple distillation and a style that is smoother and more approachable than many heavier whiskies. The whiskey is made by blending pot still whiskey produced from malted and unmalted barley with grain whiskey, then matured in oak casks that previously held bourbon and fortified wine. From the original Jameson through to expressions such as Black Barrel, Caskmates and the wider family of releases, that combination of long history, recognisable house style and broad appeal has made Jameson the world’s best-known Irish whiskey.
